Canal Street Wear
A first-of-its-kind shopping experience that brought authentic streetwear to the epicenter of fakes.
Background
With the recent launch of Authenticity Guarantee for Streetwear, eBay needed to announce its offering and solidify its reputation as the destination to shop unrivaled and authentic streetwear. When looking for the perfect location, NYC’s infamous Canal Street came to mind, given its global reputation for designer dupes. Why not flex eBay’s depth, breadth, and authentication prowess by bringing the hottest, most authentic streetwear to a spot notorious for fakes?
What we did
eBay opened Canal Street Wear, a pop-up retail shop stocked with authenticated versions of the most bootlegged items and on-site authentication of items brought in by the public. The doors opened on New York City’s infamous Canal Street — a longtime hub for bootleg, counterfeit, and gray-market goods – and visitors got the opportunity to shop an incredible selection of sneakers and streetwear from brands like Off-White, Bape, Supreme, Kith, and more, all backed by eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee. The surround-sound campaign showcased the depth and breadth of eBay’s unrivaled streetwear collection along with the expertise of eBay’s streetwear authenticators.
