Hard To Find Gift Shops
Each holiday season people shop eBay for hard-to-find gifts, so we stocked “sold out everywhere” items into speakeasy-style gift shops and invited shoppers to find them.
Background
During the holiday season, checking every item off a gift list can feel nearly impossible. Add to that, 70% of Millennial and Gen Z adults report a product they wanted to purchase in-store was already out of stock. With the perfect holiday gifts more out of reach than before, eBay sought to bring its unmatched inventory of hard-to-find items to IRL shoppers.
What we did
eBay opened Hard-To-Find Gift Shops across the US, each focused on a popular holiday category, from Sneakers in Detroit to Collectibles in Houston, and Luxury Handbags and Watches in Miami. eBay then challenged shoppers to find our speakeasy-style stores, dropping hints on social leading up to each launch. The shops brought to life eBay's unrivaled selection of gifts and reminded enthusiasts that eBay has something for everyone on your list. For shoppers who couldn’t make it in person, eBay simultaneously dropped shoppable collections from the store, proving online or IRL, eBay is the home for hard-to-find gifts.
